Every two years the City of Munich awards prizes for Fine Art (two prizes), Architecture, Design, Photography and Jewellery.
The exhibition presenting artists and designers nominated by a jury comprising six experts and five City Council members will be shown online this year via the Rathausgalerie's website as the space itself is temporarily unavailable due to renovations. For the first time all nominees and their artworks will be permanently featured in this online exhibition. In addition, a poster campaign, installed on prominent public advertising columns across the city, will present the 28 nominated artists, designers, teams and offices with individual motifs in public space.
The prizes are exceptional in that they encompass five artistic genres, bringing together positions from fine and applied arts. The 28 nominees' contributions give a fascinating insight into Munich's diverse creative scene.
The awards recognise outstanding artistic achievement and are endowed with 8,000 euros. The assessment is based on the nominee's entire body of work to date. Based on the expert jury's recommendations, the City Council will decide in November on the final outcome.
