Nominee Fine Arts
"I am a sculptor and work as a performer, video artist and educator. I approach sculpture through the body. The needs of the body collide with the historical, social and technological developments of our time: sickness – wellness – madness. My body's skills are to be regarded as tools and function within an economy of friendship in collaboration with others. I understand sculpture as a multimedia form, which incorporates poetry, drawing, scripts, performances and spatial installations."
Angela Stiegler lives and works in Munich. After completing her studies (2007-2014) in Athens, Bologna, Karlsruhe and Newcastle, she taught at the academies in Munich and Nuremberg. In her work, she deals with sculptural practice as being performative and understands the role of the artist as an educator of the present. She works in collective contexts with shared authorship within and outside of exhibition spaces, creating situations that take on experimental formats or act as temporary monuments. The human body thereby becomes a medium of critique and dysfunctionality. Most recently, the temporary monument Au au au Hi hi hi was presented in public space as part of Public Art Munich Solo* (2025). Since 2015, her work has been exhibited at Kunstverein Tiergarten Berlin, Cinema Dynamo Genève, Kunsthaus Hamburg, Museum Brandhorst Munich, A.K.T; Pforzheim and Goethe-Institute Paris. She is the co-founder of the artist collective K Hybrid (2013-2020) and, since 2020, is part of the opera collective DIVA. At the Kunstraum Munich, she is a member of the board and runs *Der Fahrende Raum, an artistic activation space for children and youngsters in collaboration with international artists. In addition, she is a volunteer for the Professional Association of Visual Artists (BBK) and advocates for greater inclusion in the art world.
