"Repairing that which already exists has now become the highest priority for architecture, city planning and construction dependent, based on the current situation. Material value, like the recyclability of building materials is gaining importance, for good reason. In my work, I am mainly interested in immaterial value. By documenting and discussing the built environment, including from a social and cultural perspective, I aim to highlight the fact that beauty is not an objective characteristic. And that, consequently, the decision as to what is worth preserving and what is not, does not have to be a matter of class."

Lukas Strasser (he/him) studied architecture at the University in Munich and the Technical University Berlin and completed his master's in 2025 with Professor Nanni Grau. Before his studies, he finished an apprenticeship in the metal industry. Whilst studying, he began work on his own projects attempting to methodically grasp the built environment and its political foundation. Following his studies, he taught site survey at the Munich University of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with Professor Dr. Luise Rellensmann.
Since January 2026, he has been leading the research project 'K12 Standard – Development of a new (minimum) standard in building transformation' at the Chair of Architecture of Transformation (AoT, TU Berlin). The project is investigating a climate-friendly, socially responsible and, above all, practical renovation strategy for listed Gründerzeit tenement blocks.
